a real walk

The other day after lunch we took a walk through this beautiful garden path covered in white stones and lined with the brightest red flowers. Tara walked a little ahead of us and then paused. She turned and began kissing each flower and flower bud. Then she walked over to a large bush, waved to it and said “ello”. Next she plonked herself on the stones and started picking a few at a time, attempting to put some in her ears, rolling them in her hands, then dropping them before picking more up.  And right then and there everything felt so good. Life felt so good.

Since we’ve been slack in updating our blog with the wedding of the year, I have decided to dedicate this post to my beautiful sister, Ioana banana, and her wonderful husband, Joey, and to wish them both a joyous 2nd month anniversary. Aren’t they just gorgeous?!

So at dinner tonight Saba begins talking to Tara without any sound coming out of his mouth. Thinking that this could be fun I joined in. The look on her face was priceless–one mixed of “What the heck is going on?” to”I don’t know whether to laugh or scream so I think I’ll settle for both” to “This aint funny anymore”. She later became a cool sport and joined in with whispering.

can’t wait!

This week Tara begins her first day at “Rose Garden”, children’s classes for children 18 months and up. And I can’t wait! Children learn about the virtues and how to sit nicely to pray. I’ve been trying to get Tara to sit long enough through prayers. Right now she’ll open her prayer book and start singing “Oooooh….” and then followed by a lot of “aue aue aue iiiiieeeeeeeeooooooooooeeeeeeeeeeeeoooooooooooooooooo….” then uma! then she gets up and gets on with her play and doesn’t wait til Saba and I have said our prayers. So we ignore her and sit nicely and say our prayers, hoping she’ll follow our example, but then this is usually accompanied by “mama! daddy!… MAMAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! DADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDYYY!!!!” so I’m interested to see how she’ll be after observing other children. I’m trying to teach her the word “God”. So the other day I heard her say “Oooooh Golowd…” We’re getting close.

Tara loves:
Turtles (from pictures of them to our turtle ceramic to her bath toy)

Olives (a surprise for her age, but not so surprised when her daddy loves them too)

The telephone (exclaiming HELLO?! HELLO?! )

Oops Oops (a favorite word when food spills on the floor, she falls over, goozes)

The Wiggles music (sings along to Toot toot chugga chugga Big, red car, Fruit Salad and Hot potato)

Enna-Marie (absolutely adores this little girl)

Imitating animal noises (elephants, monkeys, birdies)

Sniffing the pebbles on the pathways to the Shrine

Climbing stairs without help

Tipping water purposely from her cup, pointing then saying “OOOOOOOHHHH!” because she knows she made a mess

Reading “Goodnight Moon” snuggly in bed
