Sadly, our time in Sa has come to an end; tonight the fam bam, Tara & I are off to the States for a few weeks and then T & I meet up with Nasime in Newark for Tel Aviv. We’re sad to be leaving family and the community here–it has been a wooonderful trip–but on the other hand we’re looking forward to seeing family in the States and for them to meet Tara, and then of course to be seeing SABA joon joon soon! For anyone who is from Sa and leaves it, there’s always that deep, sad feeling when that plane takes off, not knowing when one might return. So in the meantime tofa soifua my beloved Samoa.

Well it’s Thursday evening and I just finished my first week back in the Purchasing Office for the last 5 months or so. I arrived back to Haifa, and straight to work on Sunday to find work related e-mails.
So now that I have gotten though that I have to update the blog with the long awaited pictures from Samoa! I miss everyone back home so much! And as you can see on the count down timer I am counting down the days for Sieni and Tara to Return!
Keep your eyes posted I’ll be posting lots pics over the next few days.

‘Tis the season to be celebratory… company end-of-year parties, weddings this weekend, a friend’s “tropical theme” 21st, endless prizegivings and grads, mom’s family reunion (the Williams) at kua, a friend’s prom tomorrow night (Pattie’s taking her, mom and I are dolling her up), and amidst it all this past weekend Samoa held its unit conventions. We headed out to kua to see the family under one roof during their unit convention and got there in time for to’onai lunch. Seki a le timing. Dad, Saba’s mom, my uncle, aunty, and two cousins are delegates (it’s a family affair!). Another exciting event is the Bahai Youth Empowerment project!! A few youth have arrived from Australia for it. The youth will be heading out to village communities to provide their services… and Tara’s taking it all in. Last week we went to a Bahai preschool end-of-year prizegiving event, and she loved it! Two of her cousins attend the school, and it was so cute to see them. I can’t wait to see Tara attend school. New developments: she’s exercised her vocal chords very well, squelling, laughing, crying, you name it. We like to believe she will chant beautifully like her aunties. Tara’s legs and arms have def. strengthened–she sucks her thumb and sometimes te whole hand, she kicks her legs when in frustration, rubs her ears and eyes, and occasionally pulls the back of her hair (have to watch out for that one); her blue eyes have lightened, her brown highlights are more defined, and of course she’s chubbied up; best thing of all is her smile and giggle… melts the heart everytime. Me and Saba’s 5th year wedding anniversary is approaching (same day as my parents’–their 27th).
